Identification of Resistors
Hi, everybody. This will probably make you smile. I am about to embark on the build of an old World Audio Designs Kat 6550 kit and I have been going through the parts tonight, checking them against the list to make sure I have got everything. Problem is I have got 40 or more resistors and - apart from a few that I have worked out - I haven't got a clue which one is which on the list. Is there some identification code that I can read from the colour of the resistor body and the sequence of its colour bands - or do you just have to be a genius? I'd be grateful for any pointers. Cheers. Gary

Re: Identification of Resistors
Hi Gary,
I could post a link, but if you just google "resistor colour code", you'll find your answer. HTH Nigel.

Re: Identification of Resistors
Being a bit colour blind I always measure 'em with a multimeter. I'd rather trust a meter than my brain when it comes to maths and stuff=)

Re: Identification of Resistors
Good advice Dik I was just thinking Gary will need a MM to check it out later so now's a good time to get one.

Re: Identification of Resistors
My favorite mnemonic is for the colors on a resistor:
Bad boys rape our young girls but violet gives willingly. from 0 to 9, black, brown, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, grey, white |
