Default New (valve) member here . . .

Hi all.

My very first post here, I've been into Hi-Fi since 1976 era or so, I'm an golden oldie so to speak....lol.....

Within the past week I've just purchased a used WAD KEL84 XL version valve (line-only) integrated amplifier -- I bought it without any knowledge or hearing it, took a chance on it to be honest, I've never owned any WAD Hi-Fi audio gear in the past, but must say it's sounding extremely good now seated/glued on my Hi-Fi rack.........it makes amazing music via my Audioplan Kontrast MkII floorstanders (86db)........amazed by it actually....!

I've owned quite a few valve related amps and mono's over the decades, but this KEL84 is so musical, so enjoyable.

Here's a photo;

Before I made the purchase I gave Matthew Snell a phone call for his advice and knowledge relating to this KEL84 I was about to buy, I must say he was very helpful with my questions......fabulous.

Best regards to all. Looking forward to this audio forum.

Welcome Peter, I had one some time ago that was tatty and resurrected it, it did sound good but not quite as good as the KT88 I use, and just for the record your amplifier is a World Designs product, not World Audio Design, the former improved PCB layout and construction but is the same circuitry. Welcome Peter. Nice amp. Saw it advertised on AOS and thought it was a good deal. As you say, very musical. I hope it gives you hours of listening enjoyment.

Good morning and welcome Peter.
I must admit I do like the side panels they add a certain something to this very excellent amplifier. As Greg says I hope it gives you many hours of listening enjoyment.

Hi Richard.

Well spotted Sir, yes that other valve related Hi-Fi item is a homemade Valve DAC, based on Lukas Lampizitor design, not built by myself (unfortunately), was built by an audio friend of mine from N-Ireland, he’s good with a soldering iron and reading schematics.

It sounds blooming marvellous……just like the World Designs KEL84 XL…!

Best regards.
Peter
