Hi All
Well something a bit different
I just acquired this ABLER 804AD eight-digit display Vintage Calculator working cost me £10
Not old enough to be valve but has a vacuum LED Display plus its mains or battery, which recharges off the main lead so not that old, but a bit of fun, for a tenner anyone got a vintage calc then

Yes, bob I have used your vintage calculator in past thanks for that as mine is dyslectic

Now you've done it! I'm reminiscing about calculators past. I remember my Great Uncle made one from TTL chips in the late '60s and the programmable TI59 my father brought home from work to show me in the early 70's. They used it for calculating the relay settings for the line protection on the National Grid I seem to recall. I had programmes stored on magnetic strips; including Mastermind.

And then there were the Sinclair originals with reverse Polish data entry, or some such.

But most of all I remember hours of 'fun' with with programmable Casio that got me through more lab write ups & exams than I care to remember.

Hi F, just to correct you, but no offence intended, your post should have been directed to Colin who started the thread. I wish that I had been allowed to use calculators in my time as an apprentice toolmaker, some of the sums were very hard. BOB

None taken! Still can't use a mouse to scroll all the way up....

Colin, my great uncle's home built job had nixie tubes which have similarities to valves!

Yep a friend has a nixies tube calculator, which I keep tiring to get off him but he will not budge I have wanted a nixies clock as well maybe someday just to be different
