Default Ribbon Tweeter 'speakers

Bookshelf built around a quality ribbon would be good.
Floorstander with nice bass extension would be better.

The only speaker that stopped me in my tracks (walking out of a shop)was the SD1 - so sweet at top end - being driven my Meridian amps from an iPod!!

I have a meridian 557 - as much as I love valves, I couldn't be without this.
Never complains.

Floorstander with bass extension AND a ribbon tweeter would be even better Justin

P.S. Will you be taking your new 'babies' to Eggfest 3,so we can all have a listen?

Do you mean to say I am the only one who thinks Ribbons are for girls?

Martin - those speakers are staying put. Nursed the car home and felt every pot-hole. Would take me two weeks to get them to eggfest at that speed.
You guys must have air suspension or hot air balloons.

Had a listen to Max Townshend's ribbon super tweeters before I left the UK, very impressive! So I would love to see a floorstander kit.

If your content not to have big bass, you could do much worse than a s/hand pair of Sextets. These have the Tonigen tweeter and were designed by Petercom himself. Now if Peter could have moved on from the Sextet, to something using a top class 12" woofer - wow.

Ribbons and decent bass - please! Transmission line done well - or aperiodic as long as the roll off isn't too severe because room loading applies a comb filter effect and the less we are dependent on it the better.

IM(not very)HO.
