Taylor valve tester data for WAD 300B PSE
Hoping to be able to properly test the valves in my WAD 300B PSE I recently purchased a Taylor 45a valve tester from EBay.
Although I managed to find a manual and the unit appears to work, so far I have not found details of how to test the valves contained within my amps. Whilst some settings, such as heater and anode volts is obvious the circuit switch settings are not and even with the help of the wiring chart I have been unable to work it out. Does anybody have details for 6AU6, ECC82, 300B & 5U4 for testing on the Taylor 45a or could somebody lend a hand to help me work it out. A copy of the manual (thanks to crowethorn tubes) can be found at www.projectd2k.com/downloads/taylor in a word doc format. |

Re: Taylor valve tester data for WAD 300B PSE
The link you gave just appears to have the operating instructions, but no valve chart data. I can send you a pdf of the valve chart if you give me your email address (send a PM).
The 45A is an older tester so won't have later valves from the 50's onwards listed. I also have the valves chart for the 45C which has many more valves listed, but don't know if the circuit selector positions would be the same. If you wish I could send you both files and you could compare the settings for a few different valves in both charts to determine if they are the same. I can also send you the settings I use on my 45C to test 300B's. |

Re: Taylor valve tester data for WAD 300B PSE
Hello Les and thanks for your reply. The valve chart and other information would be most usefull and welcome - my emai address is
email at lincolng.co.uk Your assistance is much appreciated. When reading the manual, I noticed on pages 11 & 12 a section related to enable the working out of valves not on the chart including a wiring chart and instruction, although I fear I might be way to thick to work it out from this alone. Hi LGarfirth, All,
I've just edited the post above to help avoid spamming from crawlers. There's been quite an increase the last few months. Rich |

Re: Taylor valve tester data for WAD 300B PSE
I think I have managed to translate from the wiring chart for the 300b and successfully tested some 300b's against a known working and known faulty
With Anode/screen set to 250/200 and heater set to 5v Swich setting A1 B2 C0 Testing 3mA/v mutual conductance Wind bucking current A to register 1/3 of scale *see note then wind bucking current B to register 0 Turn the meter switch on a new JJ 300B reads full scale, a known faulty hardly at all. *Normally this should be set to 3/5 of scale but the meter only goes up to a mutual conductance of 3.0 and a new 300b goes off the scale. |
