Yola...Eleanor McEvoy
You know, when I first heard this SACD I knew there was something very special about it. I just couldn't fathom out what it was but there was this niggle.
Beautiful Irish twang in the vocals, gorgeous guitar and musicianship and a crystal clear recording at a sensible level. Some fantastic lyrics (and some really cheesy ones) spoken and sung with a real emotion and geniune feeling. Is it folk...??? Well, kind of but in a very modern 2YK kind of way. Will I like it...??? Who knows but I don't like very much in the way of folk and this is gorgeous. What was it that was so special. On reading the liner notes I realised that the piano is a Steinway. Yes, it really is that noticeable.

Re: Yola...Eleanor McEvoy
I was given "Portrait of a Songwriter" by Eleanor McEvoy and play it frequently.
It was a Hi-fi News disc and tracks 1 & 2 came from Yola. Must get some more of her music.
