Hi Bob
Personally I would be very wary of any PIOs.
I have found them to be unreliable, being both leaky electrically and also physically.
I have had several very well respected units that contained PIOs from well known manufacturers and they were all electrically leaky after about 3 months. The manufacturer changed them for Polyester types.
Instal with care!

John

Thank you John, I have heard of issues and indeed have changed some Jupiter capacitors for a forum member with a KAT 6550 a long time ago, just wondered if more modern ones ( World Design from Matthew ) could be better. Bob

I'm with JC Bob.
Although if you feel the need to play with PIO then the 400V DC rated Russian K40Y if still available are about the only reliable ones I'd countenenance.
I've got em in my Leak stereo20 and they havent failed me, also the higher voltage versions which I can't remember the type numbers of are bunged in my Homebrew EL34 job.
As to any audible difference, I cant say whether its the Placebo effect or not...............
I take it you're talking about your JB Aikido CF buffer? I kept the supplied german Polyprops in mine and I reckon you won't do any better.
This said with the caveat that I don't buy into "Boutique" passives any more.
If you can hear the difference between one quality capacitor and another then that's another matter. I don't think I can but you might.
Andy

Thank you for the response's chaps, I think I will give it a miss, it was just a thought I had after spending a lot of time and money on my Phono III s, yes Andy, I was thinking of putting them in my Aikido, mine came with 1000v Cornell Dubilier, 0.22 and 1uF. I must put my storey and journey about my Phono on here as soon as possible, it has taken me some 20 years and a lot of money to get it to almost perfection. Keep in touch. Bob
