Default SONIQS ICT Interconnect cable

The cable design features twin cores for signal and return, twisted and shrouded by a woven braid for screening.

can anyone explain, would there be sonic disadvantages if the two conductors were used for left and right signals and the shield for earth ?

You would probably get some crosstalk between the left and right signals due to capacitive coupling as they are not individually screened. That is not what ICT was designed for.

The concept behind ICT is to be used either as a fully balanced or pseudo-balanced interconnect. So the two cores carry the signal send and return and the screen is grounded. In pseudo-balanced mode (where you are connecting phono plugs instead of XLRs) the screen and return are commoned at one end only. At the other end the screen is left disconnected.

If you want to carry left and right signals in the same cable then you need one with individually screened cores.

hi Richard,
Maplins do a twin core twin screened microphone cable. Very cheap.
I think it is Van Damne, or something like that.
I used it when I was using Exposure amps and would still use it if I didn't have some interconnect from the Kel84 kit spare.
cheers

Phil.

I bought some ICT but didn't order enough, so i used it for socket to pot wiring in my amp. No complaints there and its quite good to work with.
I've come to the conclusion that the ideal interconnect doesn't exist, but it's good to have a few different sets to try, because our setups evolve or change quite often.
The blue speaker cable is good too, i've yet to do an A/B comparison with the Twisted Twins but it's made me wonder about the need for fancy cables.

hi philip, i got some soniqs ict cable, and some new caps, soniqs sax 0.22uf, for my kel 84 ,and new phono plugs, this week.

i made up the ic s, to go between, ASL mini phono, and amp, and, i like them.
used them only for a day , before putting the caps in the amp,
but, i could tell the differance. clearer and more detail.

now with the caps fitted as well, even better, more of every thing, and better at low volums, more detail, better sounding base.

Glad you all like the Soniqs speaker and ICT interconnect cables. Something to remember is that these ARE fancy cables but because you do the fitting of the plugs etc. (and we sell them direct) they are not at fancy prices!
