Default Case kits

Would there be a market for chassis/small preamp cases?
I ask because as a complete cack hand with metalwork tools I find the hardest part of a scratch project is building the box to put it in with regard in particular to the looks of the thing.
Something like the case for the pre3 etc with a blank front panel with either a couple of holes pre drilled for switch/pot etc or just left plain for the customer to drill his own holes would be right up my street if the price was right.
And the finished article would match my WD power amp!

Hi-how much do you think a case like that would cost ?

Or,to put it another way-how much would you pay ?

Bit of a leading question that?
I checked the prices of the front panels for the old WAD stuff they are around the £18 mark.
say another £10-15 for the box, bear in mind I ain't askin for it to be pre drilled with convenient holes for things.
We don't always DIY to save large amounts of wonga, it just seems to be a side effect at times!
I have spent far more on DIY audio than i might have by judicious purchasing of new or used gear.
But i get a reall buzz out of hearing something I built and possibly even designed myself, when it sounds good.

the biggest problem is that the case is a large percentage of the kit price,
so I think it might surprise people how much a case would have to retail for to make it viable,

unfortunately I don't think you can base anything on the prices WD are asking for the ex WAD stock as I presume they're just trying to clear it,

sorry to sound like a wet blanket but I seem to remember we've been here before,

it'll be interesting to hear Peter's views

I've used Hammond cases in the past for a phono project. Phil at Bluebell helped with the sizes.
