BT Broadband
In our house, we pay a fixed sum every month for 8Mb BT Total Broadband. All we ever achieve is around 2.5Mb's. Today, I've seen an advertisment from BT for 20Mb BT Total Broadband. Am I to assume that almost overnight our broadband speed is to go up by eight times...???

Re: BT Broadband
Different technology (Fibre to Cabinet) and not available in all areas until physically installed. Deep searchiing on the BT site may show when your area will get it.

Re: BT Broadband
Global, unfortunately we are in a very rural location and therefore probably won't ever get it. It's BT's claims and marketing that really annoys. I notice they never add the very small 'small' print on the TV ad campaign.

Re: BT Broadband
Hi
Sometimes things work out for the good. I have a client who lives in a converted mill in a 5 house hamlet miles out in the countryside. He woke up one morning to find a fibre multiplexor installed in the field about 50 yards from his house. His phone line immediately sounded much better and his 512 Mbps, 'cuts off regularly' broadband went to 7.8 Mbps! The fibre was there to relieve a telephony problem but the benefit on broadband was spectacular. Perhaps a program of complaining about voice telephony might be more productive! Mark |

Re: BT Broadband
I think you meant 512kbps.

Re: BT Broadband
I have changed to fibre optics on BT broadband, my speed went up from about 3.5Mbps to about 35 - 40 Mbps

Re: BT Broadband
My client will also be able to get this speed once exchange work is done. I am in a major town but not scheduled for F2C for at least 18 months.

Re: BT Broadband
Recently got upgraded, now getting 1.3Mbps (with a tailwind). Previously 560kbps.

Re: BT Broadband
My BT option 1 speed isn’t too bad at highest 6208Kbps lowest 3112Kbps for some old copper wire just a word of advice if anyone is thinking off changing there isp do not even think of sky connect I went from BT too sky your speed was all stop something like at best 0.33Kbps which allowed me an out of contract early and so went back to BT check your speed and browser page loading time
