Default Jumping CD player

Hi all, apologies if this isn't the right forum but does anyone have any bright ideas about stopping a cd player skipping during playback (that is, the music jumps forward, not the player itself doing little jumps around my room!)

It's an Arcam CD23 FMJ which seems to use a Sony transport. No amount of lens cleaning etc helps and it makes having all my other gear pretty pointless if this happens. It seems to be worse during the earlier tracks of the disc, and even does it on brand new, totally untouched disks too. The player is on squishy isolating feet and does it with no external vibrations anywhere near it.

By the way I have a WAD PSU/Pre2 into KEL80s so my credentials aren't too bad!

Any suggestions gratefully received (including any ideas on what the transport mechanism is and if they are available to replace). Thanks!

Laser is prob getting weak, could try turning it up a tiny amount.
Adj the little screw next to the laser. Small amounts at a time till it works.
If this cures it then it won't be long before you really need to replace it if not already

To be a little more helpful, try http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/home/homepage.jsp and I think Mick also means http://www.semenedis.com/ although I've not tried or heard of them before.

Best wishes,

Greg

Sorry guys, brain is working again now, I blame it on too many night shifts! Thanks for all your help, new laser pickup is on order now and will hopefully cure the problem.
