Pioneer DVD575 power supply buzz

I guess this is usual for this power supply, but when the player is switched on but not playing a disk there's a buzz from a power supply choke. This stops when play is pressed.

Does this put extra stress on the PS, and should the unit be turned off at the mains when not playing?

And, do all owners of these note that on stand-by the CD transport is permanently engaged, ie rotating at high speed?

ps just changed a load of caps to Elna Silmic and Sanyo Os-cons. A very nice improvement - a richer, fuller sound but still bags of low-level detail.

Depends what you mean by "on standby".
If i switch mine on with a disc in the drive. The drive rotates, the cd loads, and it continues to rotate for around five minutes.
The drive then stops but the display stays on for a good while longer. When the display eventually goes off, i would call this standby mode.

Mine does not buzz at any time. If it's under warranty it might be worth trying to swap it.

By stand-by I mean the 5 mins of rotation, before the display goes off.

The buzz, I should have said, was with the cover off and my ear less than a foot from the PS board. It'd be interesting to see if yours does in fact buzz, if you can be bothered to fish it out, remove cover etc.
