Default Rebuilding the WAD. CF Pre

Hi All
I think this has been discussed before but can’t find it I think it may have been Dr. John that posted on it in reply to a member many moons ago.
Anyway, I am thinking about rebuilding my WAD. CF Pre that was the one already converted from the Pre 2 version. and have been looking at the original version built by Dominic Baker. Referenced to WAD Gold Archives file3

He used different components values in his and a two Valves setup.
I am just staying with the component values of the WAD CF conversion I think unless anyone suggests otherwise
what I am looking at doing is the two Valves idea thinking it may be giving better stereo separation. What do you think about this?
And how is he doing this with the valve is he just tying the cathodes together or is there more to it any guidance on doing this would be welcomed
Thanks
Colin

Hi Colin, from a very wet Kettering , I think for very simple two valve operation, you only use half of each valve, it does give better separation but not worth the hassle, better would be CF with active load, or, White CF, how about the new WD CF, from Matthew ? I am sure he will sell just the PCB and components, it can be configured with some kind of transistor load, CCS, could be interesting. Bob

Hi Bob/all
Yep, it's very wet and windy up here in Aberdeen, to bob it’s no fun walking the mutt and yes you are likely right about the new WD CF I think I will talk to Matthew and see if he will let me have a PCB.

As I am going to be doing a respray on the case and replacing the relay board in the WAD CF with one off the older original PCBS keeping the new relay kit for some other pre-amp project But coming across the Dominic Baker version just looked like a cool idea to try and at no cost to do and a chance to see if I can still etch PCBS the old school way.

And there is still the option of the preamp I named the thingy sitting on the self who knows here’s the link to the unfinished thread if anyone is interested in having a look at it http://www.world-designs.co.uk/forum...1613#post91613
