Thanks All,

The FAQ was put together a while back and we hope to update and extend it. Please let us know of any topics you'd like to see covered.

If anyone has an article they'd like to offer for posterity send it in as .doc or word type format and we'll get it posted. There have been many great posts which really should have been saved for easy reference.

Whilst much of the FAQ is factual by nature the Tweaks section may also be a place we can save more subjective experiences such as specific amp tweaks and valve and component sounds.

Has anyone reduced the feedback on their 6550 amp? how did you find the change?

Hi Chris,
I don't know I am afraid, however stick this in one of the other Forums and you may get some responses, as it is a bit buried here.
I would tend to be careful here as the ECF80 can be notorious for oscillating at the drop of a hat.

The FAQs on the old site became invisible after a while, because the default option was to only show posts less than a year old or something.
Is it possible for the administrators to make the default option for the FAQ section longer?

Good point Max, used to drive me bonkers. It now has a default to show posts from the "beginning" and we'll keep an eye.

As John says we hope to update some of the more cringeworthy posts and add new stuff more relevant to WD's new direction with speakers et al. I'm sure Peter will be joining us with these (OK, doing them all ).

Ideas for new topics are welcome. One thought is a links area for things such as calculators and tech sites. Another might be useful formulas. What do you reckon?

Chris there should be no problem trying this, as the stability margin will increase, but do check after as John says. The amounts shown in the FAQ should be quite safe to try.

I've done it on several other amps with varying effect. You really need to try it with your own speakers and room as the sound generally opens up but can become less focussed with soft bass if you take off too much. (Feedback increases bandwidth, lowers noise and lowers output impedance.) Input sensitivity will increase in dB by the same amount as the fb is lowered in dB.
