World Designs Sponsored Rally Car - Erg Oriental
Hi there all
Some of you will have seen the previous posts earlier this year about the rally team - TBWB. For those of you who havn't - we have our logo and web address on the back of a rally car which travels around the world on all sorts of rallies. See the TBWB website for details on past and present rallies. Recently the car has left the UK and indeed left Europe to North Africa and is currently competing in Tunisia. There are some photos in the gallery section on this forum or on the TBWB gallery section. There is also an active blog for those who are interested in reading how it is going! The current rally is the Erg Oriental. Anyway - enjoy reading their blog :-) |

Re: World Designs Sponsored Rally Car - Erg Oriental
Hello there again
For all of those of you that are tuning in, the World Design sponsored TBWB Rally Team have just completed the prologue stage, and the first real stage. Currently we are running around 9th which doesn't sound that great, but the Land Cruiser did not really suit the first stage all that well (i.e. it was fast and open sections rather than technical and challenging in that respect) Anyway, check out their website for more info on it with the running blog etc. Cheers The Moose |

Re: World Designs Sponsored Rally Car - Erg Oriental
We have had a quick update - more to come at a later date...
The team was the first car to finish today. We don't have any more info as to where this puts them overall, but we do know it couldn't be bad! More info on the blog at the TBWB site: http://www.tbwb.co.uk/ The Moose |

Re: World Designs Sponsored Rally Car - Erg Oriental
ok - those of you who have been checking the blog will know that we received a bit of bad news yesterday.
Yesterday's stage was 280km long, and after the first 5km, the team lost ALL brakes (not brake fade like Coulthard in Singapore but TOTAL brake loss). They had two choices - stop or carry on. So the team decided to set about racing with no brakes - but like Simon said, "brakes only slow you down!" They managed to maintain their lead for 200km when they had an accident - read the blog for full info. (this happened after getting stuck in a dune!!). Anyway, they crept back home finishing the stage in 15th putting them 10th overall. The Daktec service team managed to repair the brakes and the axel that was broken and they are now on their way again. GOOD LUCK TBWB!! If you got down this far: Cheers for reading! The Moose |

Re: World Designs Sponsored Rally Car - Erg Oriental
Some better news today!
Read the blog for more info. Some good photos of the car also came through today: The car before overtaking the white Toyota L69 HNK being driven in anger! L69 HNK being driven in anger 2!! - Fully loaded up front end L69 HNK being driven in anger 3!!! - WOAH!! Good shot of the WD logo - can't wait to get my hands on a hi-res version of this one!! There are a couple of videos as well. The links are: Video 1 - Marathonrally.com Video 2 - Marathonrally.com Video 3 - Marathonrally.com sorry they are in german, but there is not a lot I can do about that :-( they havn't put any english ones up yet! The 3rd video features nearly 2 mins (out of a 5 min video) on the TBWB car and the problems they have been having!! Will keep you posted Cheers The Moose Last edited by The Moose; 3rd October 2008 at 05:30 PM. |

Re: World Designs Sponsored Rally Car - Erg Oriental
continued!
Catching a bike... Even Closer!! Fairly Animated Post-Stage Discussion - Simon on the Left, Rolf Right These last few shots are from the last couple of VERY hard stages. Even the "service routes" (i.e. those that people such as the medical cars and service trucks follow so they dont have to get stuck!!) were tough as shown by the medical car above. Our good friends at ORMS eventually got out! The rally has started to really take it toll on a handful of the competitors - one bike has been abandoned (rider picked up by the Tunisian Army), a car has droped out and also been abandoned in the middle of the desert. As far as I know, thank goodness, no-one has been injured. Anyway, for the full details, please view the blog at http://www.tbwb.co.uk/simon.php. Cheers The Moose |
