Default Drive pulley needed

Hello
is there some out there that could help me with a drive pulley for my diy turntable.

I have looked every where without luck in finding what I need/want.

first off its to fit a motor spindle/shaft that is 3mm - http://rswww.com/cgi-bin/bv/rswww/searchAction.do

{rs part no.432-9765)

what I'm after - an inner diameter of approx 20mm,this section being about 10mm wide { am looking at using magnetic tape as the drive belt and want a soft curve ) .
I dont have autocad or a picture to up load to make this clearer

in hope you can help

Rob

Rob

My mate Clive made me some pulleys for the Bix, out of brass and other metals. I'm sure that he could do the same for you if required, for a nominal sum.

We had to play around a bit to ensure a secure fit without wobble, because the Premotec motor shaft is not very long, and it did not protrude very far above the Bix's motor pod. If you arrange things so that your pulley can be fully supported in depth, then things are much easier.

Maybe Delrin would be a good material for your application?

Cheers

Hugo

hi-i used a lot of Delrin in my turntable and it is very easy to machine in the lathe.
i find the problem with pulleys is how they fit.
if the fit is tight (interference) you risk damaging the shaft or bending it while fitting and if the mounting hole is a gnats too big (with a grub screw-no not what you have in the lunch hour ) you get eccentric wobble.
i was reading an article about magnetic levitation for platters and this guy was using round rubber of various diameters from an O-ring kit for the belt.you cut the material to length and glue the ends together.he reconned the thicker ones worked best for him.
how about looking at model shops for pulleys ?

Hi again-just been rummaging through my bits box and found the old motor from the logic DM101.
the motor shaft is 3mm and the middle part of the pulley is 19.4 mm dia and 10 mm wide, surface slightly convex.
it is an interference fit.
if you think it may help can e-mail you a photo.
