Thumbs up WAD Transformer Numbers Help Please

We are seeking to help members with WAD amps who need replacement transformers.

To that end we need a list of the part numbers written on them. Many will be in the format "Dxxxx" often written in gold pen.

Can people please add the WAD amp model and Mains and Output Transformer Numbers to this thread when you're next inside your beasts!

Many thanks,
Richard

Hi Richard, that's for the newer supplier, Graham Luscombe isn't it?

Just for info. some of the older amps transformers were supplied by SP wound components?

Just to clarify, hope that's ok.

I am pretty sure that K5881, K5881 MkII, K5881 PSE, Original 300B PP and the K4WSE all had their transformers supplied by SP Wound. I do not believe there are any part number stamped on them.

However, Kit/Kat88 OP TX are stamped D8658.

just off topic, delete if ness., that 4 watt single ended, Neal, should be quite easy to do a diy, with the popularity of the loftin white, I am slightly suprised this is largely forgotten, shouldn't be dear to build, may even have a go myself.

Hi,

I've just sold a couple of the driver transformers for a PreII, as went over to CF! They were both marked "D8773" in gold pen, if that's any help!

Mike.

Just checked a Hi-Fi World from 95, The 4W single ended then cost £385. At the time K5881 cost £395, K5881PSE £650 and 300B £850 (without valves).

Hi Neal,

I've not looked inside 2A3PSE yet but are your Tx part numbers exactly what WAD used and is the manufacturer who they used? Not wanting to be pedantic, but I'm not sure if any of this correlates to your own 2A3 amp. Also slightly confused because WAD never offered a KaT version. It was me and possibly a few others that used a face plate from an alternative amp to convert the intergrated design to a power amplifier. Just wanting to be thorough

Best wishes,

Greg

Part numbers are correct Greg, just read them! The numbering and labling are the same as Morite use.

May have the Kat bit wrong though!
