Default Is it just me?

Is it just me, or is there something a bit 'whiffy' about these ebay adds?

Hi

Zero feedback sellers starting with this sort of kit ...... plus the descriptions don't carry the ring of the audio enthusiast. I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole - even if the amp changed from a semiconductor monster to a single ended wonder (thermionic naturally) .

Just my view though and I've missed more e bay bargains than I've won!

I'd be very thoughtful - how do you report suspicious eBay ads?

ugly looking stuff though isn't it! I borrowed a Krell something once; back in the days when I was using ATC speakers. I was not impressed by the Krell.

Andrew, I get the impression you are not easily 'impressed'!!!

Or do you mean that you were impressed, but not favorably?

nice distinction!

um... think of what yer average Marantz ammp sounds like. Multiply it by say five and that's whatKrell sounded like, to me. Still got the problems of soloid state but you've also got more guts.

Solid State amps I did like were ATC intergrated and Aragorn (huge american jobbie).

It would be interesting to know if it actually exists! ...... I'd expect an excuse if you got any reply at all though TBH!

I haven't heard Krell stuff for quite some time, but back when I did the quote "they trample delicacy in the quest for detail" seemed pretty apt.

Tried e-mailing the Braintree-Krell-person as to whether they would take cash on collection. No reply.

These Krell models all come from the late 1980s & early 90s. I borrowed a CD-DSP from Audio Excellence (Cardiff) in 1999 & was not impressed. As mentioned earlier "they trample delicacy in the quest for detail"; there was lots of detail & it made your fillings rattle!

They'll be very poor if they are (as I suspect) non-existent!
