left and right channel wrong

I played a testrecord yesterday (decca) I noticed that te left and right channel are not according to wat they should be. The voice on the left side (read channel) says he's talking in the right speaker and otherwise.
I checked my cable connections to te amp and to te speakers, and the wringconnections to the cartridge and of course the interlink to the amp. Everything seems oke yet the left and richt channel are mixed up. Any suggestions.

Obviously if all the external wires are connected correctly (double and triple check this -esp the cart) then something is internally wired wrong!

It doesn't really matter though if you swap right to left and left to right on your phono input.

Good point!

Apparently if you hear a piece of music played (that you are familiar with) with the stereo image swapped over it will sound weird because your brain has a mental map of where the instruments and acoustic effects are, with a consequent flattening of the image.

Weird thing pyschoacoustics!

Indeed it was a matter of internal wiring, i have sorted it out. The plug in the armbase was positioned in the opposite way.
Releave the image is good again.

I used to wire my cartridge up with one channel out of phase and one speaker the same (only works if you have a TT only set up) the effect is to use the negative part of the power supply. So on amps of limited power it can help improve the clarity.
