Default Quad FM1

I've just been given a Quad FM1 tuner - now not to look a gift horse in the mouth, I realise the first thing I need is a power supply; 250volts or so plus 6.3 heaters.

Then ... a decoder board, rewiring the obviously old and crumbly bits, so on and so forth.

Can anyone point me in the right directions, please?

Andrew,
Maplins do a transformer perfect for the job,it has 240v and 6.3 volt secondaries. 240v rectified gives approx. 330v,just what the FM1 requires.

Hello Martin, thanks for your post. This is the way I am going. It is ideal.

I wonder if it is worthwhile though - Quad FM1s weren't the finest!

In fairness it don't have to do a lot Andrew, when you consider how 'naff' FM transmissions are now. I had an 'Eagle' valve tuner,n even that sounded better than all the 'tranny' tuners i'd owned. So it's up to you mate, but you could always use the power supply for something else if you decide to do it and you're not satified.
Regards

Martin

P.S. How's it going with T8?

mine are all sat in the garage..except the troughlines.. a good place for them?

yes martin, thanks HM you are not going to let me leave this one in the loft are you!? blimey - as if I had the time.

I had a good look at the T8 - el509s. I had hoped it was those funny russian 6C19s like the T16. Oh, it will be the same kind of circuit sure and I can see what is happening. I think Paul Barker played with OTL el509s. (not for me yet!)
