MJK ML TL Fostex FE206E
Nice cheap and easy full range loudspeaker based on Martin King's Mass Loaded Transmission Line design (or Mass Loaded Quarter Wave Resonator (ML QWR) to give it its proper title).
http://www.quarter-wave.com/Project05/Project05.html The performance is staggering for so little outlay. Well recommended.

Re: MJK ML TL Fostex FE206E
Very nice looking speakers!
I am building some Fostex horns at the mo and would love to try to get that Piano black finish.....but I bet it is not easy. Do you have any tips? Regards Richard |

Re: MJK ML TL Fostex FE206E
Hi Richard.
Sorry. Only just noticed this posting here. Unfortunately, my finish isn't exactly piano black. It's black alright but definitely not piano quality. I finished the plywood with two coats of white Dulux wood primer, sanded down lightly in between coats and finished with two coats of Dulux Satin black oil based paint. All paint was applied with a mini foam rubber roller kit from Homebase. I hate glossing anything so always use a roller. It gives a good even finish with no brushmarks. I think if I wanted piano finish I would probably go for a spray paint system. HTH. Cheers,
