Pre Amp For a 300b

Hi I have an elekit pre with a phono stage and am looking to use a WAD pre/phono with the 300b. I use MC cartridges and currently have a high output Denon DL 110. My budget is around £400 which is what I hope to get for the elekit.

As I recall there are WAD pre/phonos in one box or two (separate power supply) Any advice would be warmly received. Many thanks David

Hi David, I think there was a WAD pre/phono (RIAA) but that would have been 30 plus years ago and has been bettered, the WD pre III PSU III and Phono III/s are good, but I doubt you will get that set up for your budget, you have just missed my Phono III, (see for sale section) I think you would need a budget of £600 to £800 for a good series III set up, current price new as kit is around £1700. I've just gone the other way - replaced my WD Pre 3, Phono 3 and PSU 3 with the Elekit TU-8500. I don't think I'll be going back, but I admit that I seldom use the phono stage on the Elekit.

Hi all thanks for the replies. The guy I bought the 300b from has the WAD pre/phono that was boiught at the same time as the amp. What are they like? Rgds David

Take Nigel's offer, the WAD Phono II is good, but the Pre II is junk, I speak from experience as I had them and trashed the Pre II, the WD Pre III is a different thing altogether. Bob
