Apologies to everyone for the lack of forum availability for the past few days. This was due to a massive hard drive failure on the server of our web host.

We are taking steps to avoid such failures in future and deliver a more consistent service.

They are things which are out of our control, I'm afraid, but we are going to adjust our web hosting in line with the increased activity on our site.

The unfortunate aspect was that we lost all e-mail too, so apologies again to those who e-mailed and had messages bounced back and, of course, we couldn't send any of you any messages to let you know what was going on.

For those of you in the know modern servers work on RAID disks where, if one hard drive fails, other hard drives can carry on supplying the data. In this case two or more disks failed so the RAID system collapsed resulting in a complete blackout of all our domains. Ow!
