LP12 armboard and Rega.
Hi All,
I wanted to fit a Rega RB300 to an LP12. Does anyone know what distance the centre of the arm hole should be from the rear of the armboard. Also for an RB300 with Michell VTA adjustment screw what diameter hole should it be? Thanks, Matthew |

Re: LP12 armboard and Rega.
I dont know, however, i have a P2 plinth here, i assume the rb300 measurements are the same as rb250?
I can measure later if no-one knows specifically about the rb300. |

Re: LP12 armboard and Rega.
The RB300 has the same dimensions as the 200, so its normal mounting hole is 23mm diameter at 223mm from the centre spindle, but I don't know if the VTA adjuster needs a bigger hole, or what the distance from the rear of the plinth would be. If you draw a 223mm diameter circle on the armboard centred on the spindle, the mounting hole can go anywhere suitable on it. Chose a place where it doesn't foul the lid or the chassis, and where it looks right, I guess.

Re: LP12 armboard and Rega.
Ok, so where exactly along the centre line of the armboard i.e.
How far from the rear of the board is the centre of the tonearm hole? (Presumably its the same hole centre for all Linn arms also.) Thanks, Matthew |

Re: LP12 armboard and Rega.
as Shane has said the only way to find the hole centre is to draw a circle on the arm board 223 mm from the spindle, you will be able to drill the hole for the arm anywhere that suits on that line,
this will not be the same as the linn arm, as it is shorter than the Rega,

Re: LP12 armboard and Rega.
Not so, I'm afraid. The Rega arms are quite a bit longer than Linn's.
To find the exact spot, find the point where a 223mm circle around the spindle intersects the centre line of the arm board. Be careful though that that doesn't place the arm too far forwards. It may be that the arm is not actually mounted on the centre line. |

Quote:
The solution to this is to carefully cut away part of the corner fillet to clear the base of the arm pillar. It is a bit of a fiddle to get the Rega arm mounted properly but it is worth it as the RB300 far outperforms any of the Linn arms when mounted on an LP12, particularly if a Cirkus bearing is fitted.
