This is apparently how the scam works:

Hello Gerard and just a quick note to let you have the following info on the L-07D for auction on eBay.

From our sources it appears that the person selling/scamming is calling himself Peter. The scam appears to be worked on " I'm moving house and working all hours so no time to arrange for anyone to inspect or collect so ......it will be easier to post the turntable through a courier......".

So although to all intents the attempt is to make it appear a genuine sale with the enticing offer to allow inspection/collection, the sting is in the "too busy to allow inspection/collection" routine in an attempt to drive anyone down the "send money upfront" road.
