Re: Ortofon Kontrapunkt B and Phono II - Cartridge loading
I went back and double checked my loading and I'm currently using 47R not 100R...checking back on my notes the 47R takes the edge of sibilance on some albums. I went back to 100R today just to check and yep....47R helps in my system reducing sibilance and taming some bright albums, also it sounds more natural.......so I'm not loosing my marbles..... yet.

Your comment "edge of sibilance on some albums" is interesting because I notice the same. What input transformers do you use? I use the new WD ones for the Phono3. I'll try another 100 ohms in parallel wit my 125 ohms and see if I notice the same. cheers, Nick |

Re: Ortofon Kontrapunkt B and Phono II - Cartridge loading
Nick,
Don't know if this helps but if you are chasing down how to get the Kontra sounding to your liking....I have a Kontra B which is played via either S&B TX103 step ups or a Hagerman Piccolo head amp. I have no sibilance issues whatsoever at 100R or 200R. I'm one of those who can't abide unnatural sibilance, one of the reasons I use valves & vinyl. Cheers, Clive |
