Re: DIY mc Transformer ?
Yes, the cartridge definatly needs running in....the step up will improve with time as they are transformers.

Re: DIY mc Transformer ?
I've got to say.....it is the best dam £72 I've ever spent!!!!
The 103 is in another league with this step-up. If you have a 103...you really can't go wrong, it is matched for the 103 and I really don't think there is any thing to match it at the price. What do you think Philip? Gerry |

Re: DIY mc Transformer ?
well i have to say i am very pleased.
i did not want to spend quite as much for the step up but i think what i have is very good value for money. i have spent several hours this afternoon listening to lp's and have really enjoyed what i have heard. i am now wondering what to try next.one thing i have got coming is a silicon rubber sheet to use as a turntable mat.the logic platter has a built in felt mat. i have also made up another armboard ,mounted the arm on this and decoupled from the lower armboard with foam.the bottom armboard has a much larger hole where the arm pokes through.the top board is held by weight alone.doesn't seem to sound much better so perhaps my original design wasn't that bad,but its nice to play. was thinking of the foam between cartridge and arm but thats a bit fiddly for me,more used to old british motorcycles. might have to play with a gl75 or 78. Re: DIY mc Transformer ?
yes I have become rather partial to transformers as a step up method, I do have a couple of experiments to do with active stages, both transistor and valve, but its looking like the transformers have it. And they all sound different, you can play to your hearts content.
