using WD88VA integrated version as a power amp
Hi,
Until now I have only built KEL84 and I have but a limited knowledge of electronics. I'm planning to build the integrated version of WD88VA and maybe to use it as a power amp later on. Instead of bypassing the input selector and the volume pot for that purpose, would it be possible to connect the pre-amp to one of the inputs and leave the integrated unchanged, or would that be degrading to the sound? Maybe this is a silly question, but I'm really at a loss here. Hope someone can help. |

Re: using WD88VA integrated version as a power amp
Yes you can do this and it will work fine.I do it in my system.Only caveat would perhaps be impedance matching between the pre and power, which may affect sound quality slightly.A way round this issue would be to use something like the Pre3.Turn the volume on the power amp up to around three-quarters of maximum and use the volume pot on the pre to set your listening level.

Thank you very much! As the Pre 3 would be my definite choice, my upgrade path is now clearly mapped out for me.
