modding Croft preamp
Hi guys, again
I have a nice little Croft valve pre amp not long been serviced although the valves are probably a bit naff now. I have been thinking as I am building up another T/T which will require a phono stage is it possible to mod the circuit to use it as a phono stage? If possible I would like to do it in such a fashion as to return it to its original state with the minimum of hassle. The unit is too good to treat without care. Any ideas? Regards John Lancaster. |

Re: modding Croft preamp
Do you want to do it yourself or have someone do it for you?

Re: modding Croft preamp
Hi John,
A phono stage will need lots more gain and to include riaa correction. The power supply will also most likely need improving to lower hum and noise for the tiny signal level it starts off with. So yes it's possible but not very easy and not easy to convert back again. That's why you often see stand alone phono stages and pre amps as they are very different beasts. |

Re: modding Croft preamp
Hi guys
Thank you for your replies re phono stage. I like the little Croft and it would not want too see it modded in a fashion that it could not be returned to its original state, therefore I shall not touch it. This will also allow fellow Croft lovers to came back down from ceiling. Regards john lancaster. |
