It's OK Baggo, the Tri-BSA is back in full working condition.

The replacement crankshaft was installed and everything carefully put back together. Started second kick, and with the lighter flywheel it sounds "crisp" when given a handful of throttle.

It's next outing is on Sunday 26th at Marks Tey (Essex) in the East Anglian Grand National classic scramble.

Well done, Philip.

I love the heavy iron flywheels on my VH, they make everything seem so effortless and really store the energy from the 95mm stroke - wonderful torque as you will remember. However, all this potential stuff when it becomes kinetic, particularly in a hurry, is not good news and inertial forces being entirely Newtonian in their behaviour, occasionally object and cause breakages. Steel flywheels tend to be lighter and certainly are a lot stronger.

It would be difficult to fit but one of those rubber universals incorporated in the final drive could be useful. You know, those spongy gizmos fitted to the Lotus Elan and which allowed you to drop the clutch at the traffic lights and start to move five seconds later only to find a pedestrian had thought you had stalled and was now crossing the road. You would have no feeling of what the back wheel was up to but the crankshaft would love it.

Good luck with the competitions.

Hi Philip and all, is your new crank a three piece? my 110 has a three piece and a light flywheel, the one piece has a heavier fly wheel. The one ten is very nice off the mark compared to the T140, but the 140 keeps going when the one ten runs out.

Hi Bob.

It's a one piece, probably an early version.

I'll know whether the difference in flywheel weight makes a difference to my performance on Sunday.

Hotter (mildly) camshaft and lightened clutch and flywheel for the Guzzi. Yummy.
Hope the result will meet expectations.
