Default Classic Turntable Prices

Hi Everyone,

Is it me or are prices for classic turntables starting to get silly.

Out of curiosity I have been watching a Garrard 401 motor unit on eBay.
The auction ended with a winning bid of £434.

Is this the going rate these days for classic decks or did the buyer get a bargain?

no it's not typical, well over the normal price of around 250 pounds,
TBH I couldn't see what made this one so special

Know what you mean, I had a snipe on a 301 item no. 9722159636 of £301 hoping it would go cheap because he won't ship to Japan, but it's £411 with 20 mins to go.

All I can say is, what a good job I got me a 301 5 years ago at Barnsley Radio Rally for 70 squid, and to think I spent some time making the decision. Today I would thrust the money in his face and grab it with both hands.

Whether I have been foolish to promote vinyl all these years?

Vinyl is not worth all the aftercare, the ones talking sense are the ones who have all gone digital. Anyone for an AR legend?

Go to ebay, enter "garrard", select "Completed Listings" on the left of the page (it will ask you to sign in), and then select Home Audio/Hifi on the left. List by Price (High).

Things are difinitely getting silly. I sold a 301 3 months ago for £450, and thought I'd done well. 401s were going for about £100 less.

Lenco remains considerably better value for money and may be as good.

rediculous thing is, lenco motor and drive I think to be better. Only weak area of lenco against garrard is platter and bearing, though much better than most other tt's, not quite as good as a 301. 401's too plain looking to be in contension I'm sorry you boring 401 owners.

Did anyone see that Harley valve and valve guide turntable bearing? Get a slate platter made to 301 proportions but proportioned beneath to accept lenco drive system, Harley bearing, and you have a 301 killer for little money.

In light of the £434 does it make this one worth 900 pounds
