Default Who wants a Schroeder or a unipivot?

Having spent a couple of months playing with arms, I'm turning my attention to the turntable, so have reverted to my Rega 300 as a known reference point.

This means that my home-made unipivot (pics here) and Schroeder (pics 23-28 here) are lying idle.

If anyone wants to have a play with them, drop me a PM and I'll send them off.

There are some caveats:

1) All experiments and opinions must be published here (you're welcome to modify them as you see fit).

2) Once you've finshed with them, pass them on to someone else.

3) If you want the Schroeder, you'll have to provide a counterweight. A Rega tungsten weight will fit, so if you haven't got one find someone who's fitted a Technoweight.

4) The Unipivot is currently fitted with a din plug.

A couple of quid to cover postage would be appreciated.

Well that didn't take long! Thanks Adrian and Andrew, I look forward to seeing your findings. Please be honest, if you think the results are rubbish, say so. If we can work out why, we'll all learn a bit more. For those who are interested, the Schroeder goes to Adrian, the Unipivot to Andrew.

Absolutely. Adrian has it first, I'm not sure if Andrew wants it afterwards. Best to arrange with them, I would think.

Hi Shane and David,

If I could trial the Shroeder after David, that would be good. I'll wait to hear from you David when you're ready to send it on.

Best wishes,

Greg

Nice (and a bit startling) to see everyone so keen to try out my humble efforts.

Although they are designed with the same geometry as the Regas, they don't fit the standard Rega mounting hole, as a quick look at the pictures will show, so a bit of DIY will be needed to make them fit, probably involving making specific arm-boards. If anyone needs advice about fitting when they recieve them, I will happily do what I can.
Although both arms were fascinating excercises for me, they are very home-made, so don't be too disappointed if they are a bit rough-and-ready. By the same token, if you see any obvious improvements, feel free to carry them out. As ever, the condition is that everything should be fully documented here.
Thanks for your interest, everyone. I look forward to your findings with anticipation, and a little trepidation...

Hi Shane,

Absolutely no need to be an apologist. You've offered a service that will cut many corners for alot of us who are interested in these DIY arms. I also know you have an ear for the 'right' sound, so you'd never have offered here if you didn't have the faith. I'm very happy to trust that and give your offering a go. I've wanted to try this for a while and your offer here really has made the option very easy. I hope I can get 401 ready for you at about the same time your arms return which should be the bonus for you. Thank-you again.

Best wishes,

Greg
