Default Help Me Find a Thread

Hi all

Some months ago (not sure when) we had a thread going in which we discussed, among other things, the merits of some high-end Direct Drive turntables (Technics SP10, Micro Seiki, JVC etc). One of us (James D ??) gave the benefit of considerable knowledge.

I would like to re-read this thread and I can't find it. Searching can be an art sometimes.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Mark

Could it be the "Linn Lp12, still worth the dosh?" thread, started by Dave the Bass. While I did not read all the posts, a search for the word Seiki only showed two other short threads (plus your current question).

Thanks Alastair

No it wasn't that one. I begin to think I may have been hallucinating. In the desired thread there was lots of things like ' the technics SPxxx was a better deck than the SPyyy' and that sort of comparison.

Oh well.

Hello Mark,

If there anything specifically that you would like info on. I don't claim to be able to reproduce the thread but I'm still around to venture forth my opinion. I'm a bit buried with work and things but promise to respond in a day or two...

Hi Mark,

I think it was the 'Gyro laid to waste' thread which seems to have dropped off the forum.

Best wishes,

Greg

That could explain it!

Thanks Greg.

James

Thanks very much

What I am looking for is a reminder for each 'big name' DD manufacturer, what is the best turntable to look out for and what the best 'value for money' point might be. Something like

"Technics SP10 is the one to have and could cost £800 but the SL1200 is pretty good for about £200".

That sort of thing.

I have a SL150 with SME arm at the moment and it is quite good for a plastic plinth deck but I fancy trying to get something a bit better. I really like DD so will look for good second hand stuff.

If you can give me some guidance any time you get an opportunity that would be great.

Many thanks

Mark
