Default Multi pin power caps.

Hi, got hold of some BHC power caps and am interested in popping them into my kel.
Could anyone tell me why they have got one pin for earth and three for positive ? they aren't classed as 220 + 220uf or anthing, as far as i know they are just one cap.

Will it matter if i use all three pins positive commened ito one ???

Kind regards

Jim

Hi Jim-when i built "El Cheapo" the 832 valve i obtained some 820uF BHC caps,and they had 5 pins.(1,2,3,4 and -)

It says on my caps - = neg and 1 = pos.

I did find a web site that confirmed this but i cant remember where.

hi-try this site.

My caps were an obsolete design (ALP30A)

The other pins "may be at negative potential" !!!!!

Hi Jim, are you sure that's the correct way round, are they marked, usually there's 1 pin for pos, another for neg, and the others are no connection, just for securing to the board, or might be neg as Philip says.

Ah yes, thanks phillip for that link, it apears that two are no connection.

I simply just snapped these off, i had to swivel the pins to fit in the kel 84 pin gating.

All done now, and it has tightened up the bass as expected and increased dynamics a little.

Have got a pair of pmc fb1's recently and the low bass was a little loose, this was to correct it.

I also reverted back to the normal feedback level, although the later i am less convinced of the benifit.

Kind regards

Jim
