Optimum spacing/placement and which speaker
Having heard other forum members views, the decision is between the WD25T and A (probably excel version).
What will probably affect the decision is the optimum position between the speakers: I have a Victorian terrace size sitting room (about 3 metres wide and 4.5 long) with the Hi-Fi on cupboards in one of the recesses next to the chimney breast (2m wide along the long wall). The placement would either be the WD25T's either side of the fireplace, but within the dimensions of the chimney breast (so as not to be in front of the cupboards) with 2m the outer separation, or with the WD25A's on a shelf 1.5m high in each of the chimney recesses (could either be either side of the chimney, with 2m between them or as far apart as 4 m between them at the outer parts of the recesses). Hope that's clear. Any suggestions or advice, please. The other factor is children, 10 and 6 (the 6 year old poked the tweeters of my celestion 7's when he was learing to climb at 3-4 years of age) - although now old enough not to deliberately damage floorstanders (they are aware of the consequences, and understand the meaning of "pain of death"), accidental damage cannot be ruled out. I would be willing to risk it, after all, why not spend their inheritance while I can. Look forward to your advice, Thanks - Tom |

Re: Optimum spacing/placement and which speaker
WD25T either side of the fireplace, 2m apart, should work perfectly.
On the subject of children, mine were trained from an early age not to touch any equipment without asking first. As a result they happily played in the living room where there was plenty of hi-fi and video equipment without mishap. Only on one occasion did my wife come home to find my youngest daughter watching her dolls go round on the roundabout (a high end turntable with suitably expensive MC cartridge in it). The stylus and arm (and deck) were totally unscathed by this experience! |

Re: Optimum spacing/placement and which speaker
Thanks Peter,
On the subject of children, when I had just set up my Michel Gyro (and very lovely I thought it was too), I was brought down to earth when one of my son's friends (about 7) commented, "Oh look, youv'e got one of those old fashioned CD players" Tom |
