Improving the DC Heater Supply - KAT6550
Hi all,
Having considered carrying out the heater mod for some time, i've finally done it! Thanks Richard, for adding the instructions on this BB. My KAT6550, has been playing for about two hours now, and it seem to have really opened out the sound stage, treble is much sweeter, - top end much clearer. A few of the components have changed / been re-numbered by RS, and Maplins seem to have everything in stock if you want to order them, but not in store! Space was slightly tight in the amp, the capacitors were bigger than I thought, but once the old bridge and cap were removed, it wasn't too bad. If anyone reading this has not carried out this mod yet - I'd certainly give it a go! Mike. |
