Oops. That was what one of the 301s went for.

Re: Slatedeck Plinths now available
I assume a grease-bearing model? They tend to fetch the highest prices. Who was it who said audio isn't masochistic?
Naturally, I prefer them too. |

Re: Slatedeck Plinths now available
Dear All,
These plinths look simply wonderful. I bet they sound just as good too. I wish what-his-face the very best with the venture. It's nice to see somebody trying something worthwhile, which can benefit us all, and, maybe, take us little nearer to 'audio nirvana'. Regards, T.J. P.S. Anbody, who see's fit, to pay more than £250.00 for 1950's technology, should have their head examined. A top flight Trio/Micro-Seiki, yes, but a Garrard? Have we all gone mad? Has the overheated housing market, taken seed in Audio? |

Re: Slatedeck Plinths now available
Not so sure on that one, if you'd bought 10 301's a year ago doubt you'd be sorry about it now. Maybe that will apply over the next few years? Who knows, bit like houses really.
Have to wait and see, better investment than 45's anyway....!! I have noticed of late that Ebay items demand more than you can find elsewere on the net or indeed in your local shop. Even second hand Ebay items vers new. Recent personal examples inc a tripod, bought new from a local camera shop £30 cheaper than second hand on Ebay, A S/H monopod, shop £10/Ebay £25-40+P&P. Last weekend I've been scouring local retailers for a new laptop, finaly (to the relief of the misus ) settled on one but though I'd check Ebay before parting with cash and to my suprise they were £250 dearer !! so back to Comets it is then !!!! But if you want a 301/401 etc, I'm afraid Ebay is about the only choice, dealers are watching the listings and pricing acordingly. Last edited by Darren D; 15th August 2006 at 12:03 AM. |

Re: Slatedeck Plinths now available
Secondhand Bosch heavy road breaker obviously hammered by a hire shop for 10 years, and when they decide it's completely clapped out they put it on eBay, and get £400 towards the £600 they pay for a new one. They used to have to settle for £25 slavage at boot fairs, now they have a whole world of optomists outbidding each other.
The Garrard 301 was well made. You could buy that quality today but it would be cheaper to buy the original. You won't find an old Slate Audio plinth on eBay though many were made and sold. Why would that be?
