Default Twin Tier 301 Slate Plinth

Hi,
I've taken some photo's of my removeable arm plinth as a picture can
tell much more than words.
The armboard weighs 2.1Kg and like the plinth is 30mm thick. Resting
on three spikes it's very stable. I currently have four armboards for
different arms, changing them is as easy as lifting one off and
dropping another in it's place.
The armboard in the picture is cut from the same piece of slate, you
may be able to see the grain pattern which shows this.

The purpose of this post is nothing more than me being very pleased
with the final outcome and wishing to share design ideas and discuss
such with other forum members.
Any replies outside this content will be ignored.

Thanks
Darren

Darren
very very nice,

Thankyou David,

The armboard sits on three spikes the same as the top plinth/motor board. These spikes are adjustable by aprox 10mm so the armboard could be raised for the 301/401 depending on tonearm selected.

I second that. And I bet it does. What sort of total weight are we talking about here by the way? (as in the plinth)

I bet it sounds great. Is the wide plinth to allow for 12inch arms?

Hi guy's,

Many thanks for the support, it's been a lot of hard work to get this far.
Many heard Pauls slate 301 at the recent Eggfest and it went down well looking at previous posts on that subject. This one is a bit heavier due to being made from 30mm thick slate. The armboard can indeed accomodate 12" arms, infact almost any arm will fit.

I can't give too much away at the mo due to outside interests.
But I will say that the whole project is a resounding sucess both musicaly and astheticaly. It's stunning in the flesh.

Hopefully I'll make it to the next meet and will bring one along if desired.

Thanks
Darren

Yes well when I heard mine at home I realised either I had completely wasted my time making a cld plinth for the lenco99 or the lenco99 is utter rubbish compared to a 301.

The truth probably is a blend of the two.

Rest assured I shan't be farting about with wood again.
